CHILD CARE

Milestones Children’s Center

Childcare services:

Philosophy:

It is the philosophy of Milestones Children’s Center that young children learn best by actively exploring their environment. Milestones offers a program that is safe and stimulating and allows for the child’s participation in his/her own learning experiences. The childcare environment is created to meet the diverse needs of the children we serve. Our team is committed to lifelong learning and will attend periodic workshops and courses. It is important to our team that the children learn to trust and respect the individuals caring for them on a day-to-day basis.

Teachers:

Childcare personnel shall nurture, respect and encourage the individual by providing a safe and stimulating learning environment. Communication between teachers and families is an integral part of our program. It is important to the professional team that there is a collaborative sharing of information. The Milestones staff is First Aid/CPR certified, accredited by the state, and members of NHAEYC (New Hampshire Association of the Education of the Young Child).

Milestones follows a theme-based curriculum that focuses on all areas of development. Physical development is promoted through gross motor skills (dance, movement, outdoor play, running, jumping, etc.) and fine motor skills (lacing, writing, painting, drawing, use of manipulatives, scissor use, etc.). Cognitive development is enhanced with activities that focus on language development, sorting, matching, and math and literacy skills. Social-emotional development is encouraged through dramatic play and cooperative activities that include sharing, conflict resolution, self-help skills and appropriate interactions with caregivers and peers. The teachers assess the needs of the children, establish goals, and plan developmentally appropriate activities using a variety of materials.

Infant Program (6 weeks to 12 months):

Our Infant program provides an enriching environment designed to enhance development while allowing exploration and learning at an individual pace. At Milestones we surround infants with attractive pictures, mobiles, colors, and soft toys to stimulate development.

Toddler Program:

At Milestones your Toddler will be engaged in activities that promote learning and discovery. Teachers use music, movement and exploration to enhance all areas of development.

Preschool Program:

The Preschool curriculum uses thematic units that encourage literacy and math skills. Learning is play based and uses a variety of creative activities. At Milestones we value learning and exploration.

Before/After Kindergarten Program:

Milestones Children’s Center offers a flexible before and after Kindergarten program that reinforces essential skills for school success. Outdoor play, creative activities and transportation are elements of our quality program.
