Community Alliance Transportation Services (CATS) is an easy-to-use public transportation service available in the following Sullivan County Communities: Claremont, Charlestown, and Newport. CATS operates Monday through Friday, except on major holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas). Bus service begins at 6:00 am and ends at 5:00 pm. Bus Stops
There are three major corridors we travel. Our Newport Route, our Claremont Route and our Charlestown Route. Additional stops may be pre-arranged by calling the CATS dispatcher (863-0003).
Fares
A one-way Newport-Claremont ride is $2.50. A one-way “in-town” ride is $1.50. A eight-ride ticket costs $10.00. A monthly pass with unlimited rides between Newport/Claremont/Charlestown costs $35.00. A monthly pass for unlimit rides within the Claremont, Newport or Charlestown(one town only) costs $25.00. Dial-a-Ride remains at $2.00 per pick-up.
Transfers
Please tell the driver as you are boarding if you will need to transfer to another bus.
Other Services CATS Provides
We offer a variety of transportation services, including the routes outlined above, demand response (dial-a-ride) services for seniors and individuals with disabilities who cannot access other services; commuter service for the working public; and general transportation services for the general public.
